In Edmonton it usually comes down to water. Freeze-thaw cycles, leaky downspouts and poorly compacted fill wash out or shrink the soil under the slab. The concrete itself is fine; the ground under it is gone. We fill that space and lift the slab back to level.
The foam is waterproof and holds its shape, so it will not wash out the way mudjacking slurry can. If a drainage problem caused the settling, we point it out during the inspection so you can fix the cause along with the symptom. Every job comes with a written warranty.
More than most people expect. High-density polyurethane is used to lift warehouse floors and highway slabs. A residential driveway or garage pad is light work for it.
Not for most exterior work. If we can reach the slab, we can do the job and send you photos when it is done. Interior and garage work is easier when someone is around to give us access.
Once cured, which takes about 15 minutes, the foam is inert. It does not leach into soil or water, and we keep the work area contained while we inject.
When a slab is crumbling, badly spalled or cracked into small pieces, lifting will not fix it. We check for that first during the inspection. If replacement is the smarter spend, we say so and you keep your money.
